Police investigating the assault of a traffic warden outside a school in Newport earlier this week have bailed a man they arrested in connection with the incident.
As first reported by Island Echo, an Isle of Wight traffic warden was left with a bloodied face after being attacked by an angry motorist outside Christ the King College on Tuesday morning.
The assault – thought to have been triggered by the traffic warden simply doing his job – happened shortly before 09:00.
It’s understood that the civil enforcement officer was walking along the road when a car pulled up and a motorist jumped out, punching the traffic warden in the face and leaving him with blood streaming down.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and, following initial investigations, officers arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of assault.
The unnamed individual has now been bailed until the end of June whilst investigations continue.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting 44230122556.

Name and shame him!
The whole lot are trouble. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree as far as we are concerned. Anyone who hits someone else for simply asking their partner to stop blocking an entrance ( every single day) is about as low as they can get! I understand his wife was the one spoken to and she wasn’t ticketed, but objected to being spoken to by someone in a uniform and within minutes hubby the idiot screamed up, skidded to a halt, ran over and punched the guy then ran away! What an example to his offspring, perhaps on this occasion a place of safety might be in order before the young uns’ get even more out of control.
Hahaha ran away!
This cannot be tolerated, if found guilty he should be given a hefty sentence This is not acceptable , and he should have to pay serious compensation to the victim. Civilised people do not behave like this. What example does this set for anyone witnessing it.
By “the whole lot are trouble”, can we assume this is a member of one of the well known Island scumbag families?
from a total bunch of inbred cants
We can safely assume that every enforcement officer on the island will have their registration numbers and will collectively keep an out out for any infringement offences!
Bottom line, there’s far too much scum behaviour on this Island.
Disagree, there is more on the mainland than here.
Proportionally, probably more on scumbag island
It’s not a competition. Scum are everywhere!
And is going to get worse with the Tories doing nothing but putting our money in their pockets, Cutting more police despite claiming to be getting more. And they still refuse to do anything about the 130,000 strong invasion force from abroad. I’m all for helping people who are in danger from their own government but these people are economic migrants. They are not in danger.
You seem to have drifted off subject here. Are you referring to traffic wardens? Had no idea they are economic migrants but they do seem to be in danger. And you say that we are being invaded by traffic wardens from abroad. No wonder they are in bother 😉
You do understand that this scumbag was Island born and bred from a well known and long standing family of troublemakers, right?
If this bloke is who I think he is, then you and he have a lot in common when it comes to your opinion of foreigners.
All predators should be named and shamed, hopefully this will happen when he is sentenced, and not let off with a slapped wrist.
You see what our hero keyworkers of all sorts, have to deal with, sometimes. I hope traffic wardens (and other public service workers) get paid well ! They deserve it.
A key worker is essential and indispensable. Can’t say that about a traffic warden. And you know they don’t get paid well because any muppet can do it. Give them a crash helmet with a visor and a stab-proof jacket.
I disagree. Without them the country would rapidly grind to a halt. Selfish and antisocial yobs would park anywhere and gradually prevent the rest of using roads and access to private drives and the like.
They do very good job. You are very rude and disrespectful in your remarks.
Well if you are so convinced that any muppet can do the traffic wardens role, Give it a go yourself…. See who looks the muppet then. He does not deserve to be treated like that outside a Primary School in front of children. The traffic warden was there to do a job…. keep cars clear of that area. Your comment is sick.
At the very least, the CEO’s need stab vests, police radios and bodycams!
By CEOs, I assume that you mean chief executive officers. Why do they require police radios? To avoid speed traps perhaps?
This thread has turned into a right load of old crap.
I think possibly Civil Enforcement Officers?
Yes, that is the correct title for this job role these days. IE are using out of date job title of traffic warden.
I was just trying to give dogma a clue
CEO: Civil Enforcement Officers. The “new” name for Traffic Wardens!
G’ estapo more like, the Council charges
24/7 parking charges on the Island, even Pompey ain’t that desperate.
Yet you can Park on Pavements on the Island 365 days a year Free of Charge
NO fines.
The Island parking rules are a national joke.
They drive around in little white cars with camera stickers plastered all over the vehicles
they are driving.
Not a nice welcome for Holidaymakers.
They don’t show people this on Isle of Wight Jewel of the South TV Show
Wardens pounce on motorists as soon as they pull up in their vehickes.
Next they will be charging people to park on the Ferries when visiting the Island
Not a nice advert for Isle of Wight
I think you’ll find that abbreviation is already taken. “Civil Enforcement Officer” is naff to say the least. Did they just want to sound more “official”? “Parking Ticket Dispenser” (PTD) would be better because that is all they do.
Such a nice place the island NOT
