A 43-year-old man from Shalfleet who was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman has been bailed as Police continue their enquiries.
Police were called just before 18:45 on 23rd August to a report that a woman had been forced into a car before being driven from Newport to Cowes.
Officers descended on the Seaview Road area of Cowes at around 19:35 that evening, moving in on their suspect before cuffing him and taking him into custody at Newport Police Station, as first revealed by Island Echo.
The 43-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, common assault and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. His car was seized.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that their suspect has been bailed until 23rd November 2023.
Investigations continue.
