A 55-year-old man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times at an address in Bembridge has been remanded in custody.
Police descended on a block of flats at Crossway in the sleepy village during the early hours of Saturday morning and swiftly made an arrest, with officers remaining at the scene all day.
It was on Saturday afternoon that 2 forensic investigators then arrived to conduct an examination of a residential address.
It was initially reported by Island Echo that the arrest was in relation to an alleged assault by beating incident that occurred earlier in the month, with some confusion over the scale of the Police’s response.
However, it can now be revealed that 55-year-old Dean Dalley has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent. He is accused of stabbing a woman at an address on Crossway sometime between 18th-25th August. He is also accused of an assault by beating incident on 1st August.
Dalley appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court on Bank Holiday Monday where he was remanded in custody to appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th September.

And idiots in Bembridge complain about second home owners.
They should be far more concerned with the growing numbers of those likely trouble makers and law breakers who now fill affordable properties and social housing in the village.
If you can’t afford to live in the village without others subsidies that you ought not be here
The drugs dealing here is evident in the park and the cemetery with odd characters passing packages to other people.
We need quality expensive housing to prevent nere do wells coming here
Windy a rather broad assumption as some people forced to live in Government assisted accommodation in affordable homes aren’t all troublesome.
I do however agree that second home owners are preferable as the village in Winter then returns back to a quaint quiet place to reside.
This used to make the coming of Winter a little easier to bear.
Sadly as Ryde expands and grows ever closer many of its less poor inhabitants have taken advantage and due to affordable assisted homes have arrived with their offspring to destroy the ambiance of our beaches, shops and park.
Common voices shouting at mini hooligans are far more prevalent each passing year.
Let’s hope Ms Truss limits child benefits to minimise the migration somewhat.
Bring back PC SCOT !
You sound ridiculously stuck up. As if simply having money makes you less likely to beat or stab someone.
Horrible story, but also a couple of comments with despicable attitudes of the small minded, who think that because they have ‘money’ that they are better than people who aren’t as privileged!!!!!
You shouldn’t tar everyone with the same brush. Shame on you!
