A car rolled over and ended up on its roof on the main road through Binstead during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
Police were called at just after 01:10 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a single car on Binstead Road.
Island Echo understands the vehicle ended up on its roof near to Ryde Golf Club.
It has been confirmed that the male driver suffered minor injuries in the incident.
The car was recovered from the scene.

When are our police going to police our roads??…our roads are riddled with drunk drugged idiots, among others that have no respect for life….
Some NUTCASE in a white BMW 1 series passed me doing 90+ in a 50 amongst traffic near Tesco’s in Ryde yesterday. No wonder people get killed.
it’s a pity you didn’t get them on camera …
No point sadly, i tried reporting an idiot who raced through red ights on Coppins Bridge, it was almost impossible to use their dashcam app and when i did manage to send it just got standard email saying if i did not get a reply within 6 weeks they wee not following it up, guess what..nothing.
Obviously a secend home owner trying to impress his new bit of skirt.
More common then you think.
The white BMW is an unmarked police car
More bad driving on the IW
I live on Binstead Road and we sit every night listening to cars racing up and down the road, and wait for the bang to happen, it’s ridiculous. And yes we keep reporting to the police, asking them to come and sit at night somewhere along the road so that they can catch these idiots, but they are just not interested.
The mini roundabout Binstead Rd/Ringwood Rd is an accident waiting to happen, drivers regularly speed through from Ryde/to Ryde with no consideration to the fact it is a roundabout, I have lost count to the number of times I have had near misses, having had to break hard exiting Ringwood Road and entering Ringwood Rd on Right hand turns.
It is the same along the Esplanade in Ryde, 4 young cretins who drive noisy small motorbikes up and down the road until the early hours and then the boy racers and big bikes who take no notice of the speed limits, again police fully aware and usual no action.
Same in Freshwater Moa place carpark revving up speeding down high Street up Queens Road and military road followed by the pungent smell of dope, but it seems we just have e to put up with it. Police ignore it.
That’s the same as me on Newport Road Godshill. I have invited the police to sit on my drive . I can hear these maniacs come through Rookley and as soon as they see the 50 sign
It’s foot hard down quite oblivious to what or who lives around the corner . Who ever is responsible for all the road signs needs to stop now .I would quite happily sort the sign out. I would not be putting a 50MPH sign before an s bend or before a sign that said horses crossing . Madness
i agree we have the same problem on queens rd and no one takes any notice. funny as i come past ryde police station every night from work there is more cars and vans outside than you can shake a stick at.
Just goes to show how incompetent and lazy our police are, every year we are forced to cough up more with the police precept and get nothing in return, recent figures show over 90% of crimes here are ignored/unsolved.
The council should grow a pair and refuse to allow any increase in precept until these clowns show they can do the job they are paid for.
Been reporting a drug driver for 2 yrs and nothing happens seems to be same for everyone and yet they’re always telling us to report suspicious activity etc to help them ,well help us have safer rds and neighbourhoods, no wonder country is like it is .
There more focused in earning a shilling doing people for doing34 iwhere there are very few incidents but avoid the high speeders who kill and make and cause misery for everyone
I actually think the onus should be on the council more than the police. There should be speeding deterrents in all built up areas which should make racing difficult. There’s nothing on this Island other than a few speed bumps on Pan Estate and the like. Mini roundabouts are a joke, they have no impact on speeding.
The council get away with spending next to nothing on speed prevention.
And then there’s the issue of noise nuisance which is substantial but again the council do nothing.
Policing, just seems to be the speed camera van. Often on Binstead road, but won’t stop the dangerous ones.
Whats wrong with the manufacture of cars these days they are prone to falling over ???
Only on the island. I have been driving for nearly 50 years, and I have very rarely known a car to roll over, let alone the two or three a week that manage to roll their cars down here.
Phones
how can you roll a car there unbelievable really
This person needs to be taken of the road. To roll a car on that bend you would have to be going at least 60 mph there is no bend really no verges to hit nothing. Clearly someone that doesn’t know how to drive. This Is the type of person who will kill someone one day total scum bag. Let’s hope he/she has learnt there lesson before they kill someone
