Multiple low-flying aircraft will be in the skies above the Isle of Wight today (Tuesday) as oil spill response training takes place.
Planes, including a Boeing 727, are due to conduct dynamic low-level manoeuvring from 07:00 to 16:00.
They are testing a simulated oil spill response and will include test spraying over the sea.
Checks on the process they follow in such an incident are being monitored to ensure proper practice in the event of a real incident.
The planned course of the aircraft will take them over the Isle of Wight, passing over Ventnor, Newport and Cowes.

A little outdated now, as oil is out of favour.
Perhaps they could convert the sprayer to anti-illegal-immigration spray, would save us all a fortune in the long term.
What? like Patel’s flight to Rwanda?
7 people on a flight costing the Government £500,0000. That’s over £71,000 per deportee.
Meanwhile 140 new migrants landed in the UK.
Yeah, real value for money, that.
Wise up people, this is just the Government trying to look like it’s doing something to appease the prols.
Just wait until the food shortages caused by the conflict in Ukraine start hitting the poorer countries. You think we have an illegal migrant problem now? Just you wait.
Please try to understand the difference between an area of operation and a route. The line between Cowes and Ventnor is the Eastern boundary of the area.
The duration of the exercise is from today until 4pm Friday.
