45-year-old Samantha Patrick has been charged with drink driving following a 2-car collision in Ryde during the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
Police were called at 00:21 to reports of a collision involving 2 cars on Argyll Street, near the junction with Pellhurst Road.
The road was closed for a time whilst recovery of the vehicles was arranged.
Now, Patrick, of Blackthorn Close in Oakfield, has been charged with driving a vehicle with alcohol above the limit.
She has been bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 9th August.
This morning’s incident came just an hour before a fatal road traffic collision at Cranmore, near Yarmouth.

There doesn’t seem to be a deterrent for drink/drug driving, maybe it’s time that the problem is looked at again.
