28-year-old Reece Chilcott has appeared in court charged with robbing a Central convenience store in Newport on Boxing Day.
Mr Chilcott, of no fixed abode, appeared before Magistrates this morning (Monday) charged with 1 count of robbery and 2 counts of possessing an offensive weapon – a knife and a bottle of acid. He did not enter any pleas.
As exclusively revealed by Island Echo, the shop at Hunnyhill was subject to a robbery at around 18:00 on Boxing Day. The assailant got away with £400 in cash.
The case has been adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 5th February.
Chilcott has been remanded in custody until the court appearance.

Perhaps the foyer could house him and he will turn out to be a decent citizen after being shown love, compassion, and care. Then again he may just see how weak society has become and grow ever worse.

There do seem to be a number of arrests of people of NFA (No Fixed Abode) at the moment. Perhaps the mainland have heard of our very poor Police resources and think we are an easy touch?
The police apprehended the individual, as was also the case with the girl from lake who was attacked and the aggravated robbery in Ryde. Why exactly do you see fit to bash the police? They do an excellent job in serving the public and our community. Under resourced or not, they are doing their jobs and getting results. They deserve respect.
about time Central stores started looking at security in their stores. Why on earth do they keep so much money in their tills.
