Isle of Wight band The Optimists have won Wight Noize and secured a spot at the main stage of the Isle of Wight Festival 2023.
The final took place at Strings in Newport on Saturday (13th May) and The Optimists saw off competition from Obscure Colours, Rhirhi, Now Only, Amy Jolliffe, Jaded and Big T to take home the coveted prize.
Reacting to the news on Instagram, The Optimists said:
“”We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came down and showed their support. It was an incredible night of Isle of Wight music. We honestly cannot wait to play.”
On their Facebook page, Platform One has said:
“Huge congratulations to The Optimists, who will be opening the main stage of the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday this year.
“Alongside the main stage slot, the band have also won a headline show at Strings Bar & Venue – Isle Of Wight, a day of recording with Empire Sound, and a post-festival marketing strategy courtesy of Ridiculous Biz”

I don’t suppose John Giddings will actually pay them for their performance, just a lousy free ticket each of which he has thousands he could give away.
