Bembridge Lifeboat launched down the slipway at the request of Solent Coastguard this morning (Sunday) to assist a large broken down motorboat.
The All Weather Lifeboat hit the water at 10:12 to assist the 66ft casualty vessel that had suffered a mechanical failure off Stokes Bay.
It didn’t take long for the volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew to reach the motor boat, which has 2 persons on board.
However, by the time that they did the boat had managed to regain power.
Sensibly, the skipper decided to return back Portsmouth; so to be on the safe side Bembridge Lifeboat escorted her to her moorings off Whale Island.
Once secured, the ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ All Weather Lifeboat returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 12:20.

AND this is why i do not contribute to this charity.
Anyone else laugh when they read motorboat?
There should be a separate breakdown service.Like AA for these boat people. They should be made to pay for the volunteer RNLI services. It costs hundreds each time the lifeboat gets called out.Let alone the risk of the crew who get nothing. I’m sure they can afford it if they can run a million pound boat…
