This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 8th May – Friday 12th May 2023
• Luke Henderson, 41, of West Hill Road in Ryde pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £34 surcharge and a fine of £120.
• Liza Weller, 54, of Leed Street in Sandown pleaded guilty to drink driving and failing to identify as the driver. She was sentenced to 8 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a £128 surcharge fee and £85 costs. She was handed a 3 year driving ban.
• Shane Wareham, 38, of Furrlongs in Newport pleaded guilty to drug driving (Benzoylecgonine). He was handed a 3 year driving ban and a fine of £120.
• Daniel Kilshaw, 42, of Fort Street in Sandown pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £100.
• David Taylor, 43, of Highfield Road in Newport pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He was given a 6 month conditional discharge, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £22.
• Steven Balchin, 33, of Lake Green Road in Lake pleaded guilty to using threatening / abusive words / behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, common assault and theft from a shop. He was sentenced to a 60 day alcohol monitoring requirement, 20 rehabilitation activity days and a 12 month community order.
• Robert McCamley, 41, of Green Street in Ryde pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and compensation of £61.




























































































Here’s a novel idea for offenders. Dye thief’s hands bright red for 6 months so that everyone they come into contact with know that they are handy with their hands or a year in prison if they don’t fancy the idea. Violent offenders, dye their faces bright red for a year or offer an alternative of 1 year in prison for each punch/kick. Drink and drug drivers, dye their faces bright green for their ban duration. Watch the offending rates plummet to almost zero inside of a year.
What is the issue with that woman from Leed street. She is a total joke and should get her face painted Green… scum!
