UPDATED: Police and paramedics are attending a road traffic collision in Godshill tonight (Friday) in which a car has come to rest on its side.
The incident has taken place on Newport Road on the Rookley side of the village, between Rookley and the turning for Whitwell.
Island Echo understands a car is on its side having crashed into a stationary, parked vehicle shortly before 23:35.
The driver is not thought to be trapped and is currently being assessed by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service crews.
Southern Vectis say their Route 3 buses are diverting from Whiteley Bank via Canteen Road, Arreton, Merstone and then through to Rookley. Buses are currently unable to serve stops from Sandford Chapel to Allendale.
The buses will operate this diversion in both directions.
Motorists should avoid the area.
UPDATE SATURDAY – Police have confirmed that a Vauxhall Viva – which is thought to have been driven by an elderly male – crashed into a parked Kia at around 23:25.
Both vehicles were recovered from the scene overnight.
Thankfully, no body was injured in the incident.
