Lanesend Primary School in Cowes is celebrating after being rated as ‘Good’ in all areas following its most recent Ofsted inspection, recognising the school’s ambitious curriculum and commitment to pupil development.
The inspection report highlights several key strengths across the school, reflecting the dedication of both staff and pupils.
Lanesend’s curriculum now clearly sets out the knowledge, skills and vocabulary that children need to learn and when. Inspectors also praised the school’s strong focus on reading, with most pupils leaving Key Stage 1 with secure phonics knowledge. Books are carefully matched to pupils’ reading levels, helping them to build fluency and confidence.
In subjects such as science and physical education, pupils are said to develop key skills progressively as they move through the school. Inspectors also noted that pupils typically leave Year 6 feeling confident and ready for the next step in their education.
The report further acknowledges how the school promotes broader personal development, from early years pupils learning about protecting nature to older children taking on responsibilities that build self-confidence.
Headteacher Caroline Sice has said:
“This achievement reflects the tremendous progress we have made and the dedication of our pupils and staff.
“We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to provide an excellent education for our pupils.”
