Firefighters from East Cowes and Newport were mobilised to reports of a kitchen fire in East Cowes earlier this evening (Tuesday).
2 appliances were mobilised to Kings Road in the town at 19:53.
Upon arrival of the first crew it was discovered that a fire in the cooker had already been extinguished by the homeowner using a fire blanket.
Firefighters carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and removed the burnt food from the property.
Before standing down from the incident and returning to their home station, East Cowes’ retained crews fitted a smoke alarm to the terraced home.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Firefighters from East Cowes were mobilised once again at 22:25 last night to reports of a person locked in a room.
The crew attended the address near Crossways and swiftly freed the individual.
