Skeleton athlete Kimberley Murray set a new personal best of 5:37 in Lake Placid on Friday, securing a 19th place finish at the World Cup event.
Kim improved on her previous result at the US track, with her personal best of 5:37 coming in 8th quickest on the second run of the day.
Isle of Wight-born Kim is now back in the UK and is training hard with her sights set on Winterberg, Germany on 5th January. This will be followed by 5 more European rounds and then the season finale – the World Championships – in Altenberg, Germany.
Kim’s said:
“I was pleased with the improvements I made and happy that this was reflected in the end result. I’d have liked to finish in the top 16, and believe I was capable of this result, however, the field is extremely strong and there was no room for error. I made a couple of errors and paid for them which cost me time – Lake Placid is an unforgiving track.
“Overall I had a good couple of weeks in Lake Placid, getting reacquainted with sliding and the track and learning as much as I could. Lake Placid host the World Championships in 2021 – the year before the Olympic Games – so I am keeping the bigger picture in mind and happy I got to train and race there this year in preparation for that”.
