Police investigating a ram raid on a jet wash in Sandown are connecting the incident with 2 similar thefts – but no arrests have yet been made.
It was shortly before 07:00 yesterday morning (Thursday) that a stolen Nissan Cabster was reversed into a jet wash at the Esso garage on Avenue Road, Sandown.
The vehicle, which was taken from Little London in Newport the night before, was abandoned after the occupant – or occupants – stole money from the jet wash machine, as first reported by Island Echo.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that officers are linking the incident in Sandown to similar incidents involving jet wash machines at Sandford and Newport.
A total of 3 jet wash machines were broken into between 21:30 on Wednesday and 06:30 yesterday at Sandford Garage.
A jet wash machine was also broken into at Fairlee Service Station, Newport shortly after 01:00.
Police say no arrests have been made at this time but enquiries remain ongoing.
