East Cowes Vics welcome in-form Andover New Street to Beatrice Avenue this afternoon (Saturday) in one of 2 Wessex League games to be played on Isle of Wight soil.
The Andover side currently lie 4th in the Wessex Premier and are on a run of 4 straight wins. 12th-placed Vics have won their last 2 league games.
Midweek, an experimental East Cowes Vics side went down 0-3 at home to Baffins Milton Rovers in the Russell Cotes Cup. Alex Smith’s team will be hoping that they can do better than rivals Cowes Sports, who lost 1-4 at home to Andover last weekend.
Vics have parted ways with goalkeeper Alex Ram, who has made 157 appearances for the East Cowes side. He has been replaced by youngster George Bridi, formerly of Cowes Sports.
Also in the Wessex Premier, 15th-placed Cowes Sports entertain 16th-placed Downton at the Zilch Waste Stadium.
The Yachtsmen are seeking for their first win in 3 games; the Robins are 3 league games without victory. However, the Wiltshire side have just announced the signing of prolific Wessex League bagsman Brett Pitman. The former Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Eastleigh striker started the season for last season’s Premier Division winners, AFC Porchester.
In Wessex Division One, Newport IW will look to continue their impressive recent form when they travel to 15th-placed Clanfield.
4th-placed Port, who have won 8 games out of 14 so far this season, left it late to beat Totton & Eling last weekend with a last minute penalty from the prolific Ji Nash.
