A Shanklin man who falsely told Police that there was a bomb at Gatwick Airport will learn his fate in May.
Richard Herbert, 26, of High Street in Shanklin, admitted bomb hoax – communicating false information, criminal damage, and racially/religiously aggravated fear/provocation of violence by words/writing at a Crown Court hearing last week (17th March).
The court heard how, on 9th February, Herbert falsely told Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary that there was a bomb located at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal.
The following day, in Shanklin, Herbert caused damage of around £500 to a door and verbally assaulted a male.
His Honour Judge Melville KC adjourned the case until 2nd May for sentencing.
A pre-sentence report will be compiled for that time.
Lives up to his name Herbert, only a
right Herbert would do such a thing.
Fortunately he didn’t board a plane,
imagine if he had a friend called
Jack on the plane and he shouted out
Hi Jack!
Some Numpty’s never learn.
