ISLE OF WIGHT MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG DEALING OFFENCES AFTER GOSPORT STOP

31-year-old Antonio Panayi from St Helens has pleaded guilty to a number of drugs offences, including intent to supply cannabis and amphetamine. Panayi was arrested at Gosport ferry terminal on Wednesday 25th October as Police conducted a knife arch operation. At around 20:30 that evening, the 31-year-old alighted the ferry and began walking up the pontoon. Upon seeing the Police, he turned around and began walking back down towards the ferry. He was stopped by officers but resisted and tried to run off before discarding a bum bag. The bag was searched and grip seal bags containing powder and cannabis were located within, along with approximately £4,000 cash. 2 mobile phones were also seized. Panayi, of Eddington Road in St Helens, was arrested at the scene and following enquiries was later charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday (27th November), Panayi admitted all of the offences. He has been remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on 12th January.
