A 34-year-old Isle of Wight man has been arrested by officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) as part of an investigation into conspiracy to supply heroin on the Dark Web.
A total of 5 warrants were executed yesterday (Tuesday) as part of the major investigation, with the Metropolitan Police Service and Hampshire Constabulary assisting SEROCU with searches at addresses on the Isle of Wight and in Portsmouth, Hackney and Walthamstow.
It has been confirmed today that a 34-year-old man from the Isle of Wight and a 41-year-old man from London were arrested and questioned. They have since been released under investigation.
Detective Inspector Rob Bryant from SEROCU’s Regional Cyber Crime Unit has said:
“This is an ongoing investigation and our action sends out a clear message to organised criminal groups who are using the Dark Web to commit such offences, that crime really doesn’t pay.
“We continue to work in partnership with the National Crime Agency, US Law Enforcement and our regional and force colleagues to identify and investigate those using the Dark Web.
“Anyone who is selling drugs on the Dark Web should realise that we will find them and we will look to prosecute them. The wider impact of drug dealing causes untold damage to people’s lives and we will take every opportunity to disrupt this criminal activity to protect the communities of the South East from harm.”

Why has this island become so bad for drugs?
Because life here has become boring and useless. The idiots that so call run this Island are he’ll bent on building houses and importing people to fill them without any regard to providing useful and meaningful employment. And so it will go on until a brain cell moves in. Don’t hold your breath.
Seems most under 40’s can’t function without a splif to start and maintain their day, can’t even go to the pub or anything social without getting high, it’s become the norm to walk through towns smoking weed and people have had to accept it as such because very little gets done about it.
Become ? A very high percentage of drug importations into the UK has an IW connection dating way back
Because we are building ourselves out of a decent community which none of us want, we have own grown scum but that’s getting worse because we are importing it as well….
Probably seen as a soft touch. Come off and on Island without interference. Police heavily reliant on mainland support for specialised operations.
Normally it’s only the donut dealers that get caught cos they drive around without insurance or have crashes.
Well done to special unit for getting this toe-rag.
Looks like he needs help getting a job and sorting his life out. He needs a break in life I think.
