The Isle of Wight College has announced that Principal Ros Parker OBE will be stepping down from her role at the conclusion of the 2026 academic year.
Ros joined the College in 2022, bringing with her extensive experience in Further and Adult Education. Prior to her arrival on the Isle of Wight, she served as Principal of Southend Community College for 3 years, where she was recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2021 for her significant contributions to adult education and community development.
During her tenure at The Isle of Wight College, Ros has overseen a period of remarkable growth and transformation. Under her leadership, the College has broadened its curriculum, deepened partnerships, supported community engagement, led a significant number of capital projects to completion, and continued to focus on improving student outcomes across a diverse range of vocational and academic programmes.
Chair of Governors, Sara Weech, comments:
“While we are saddened by Ros’ decision to step down, we are deeply grateful for her exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to our students, staff, and the wider community. Her vision and passion have left a lasting legacy, and we wish her every success in her future endeavours.”
Reflecting on her time at the College, Ros has said:
“It has been an absolute joy and privilege to be part of our students’ journeys and to witness their growth and achievements – made possible by the unwavering dedication of our staff and the support of our wonderful community.
“However, due to changes in my personal circumstances, I now have increasing caring responsibilities that require my attention. Regrettably, this means stepping away from a role and sector I care deeply about.”
Ros will remain on the Isle of Wight, where she plans to dedicate her time to volunteering with 3 local charities, continuing to make a meaningful contribution to Island life.
The Board of Governors will begin the process of recruiting a new Principal in the Autumn Term.
