An independent lifesaving service on the Isle of Wight is on the lookout for new recruits to join its Beach Safety team in Ryde and Sandown for the 2026 summer season.
Ryde Beach Lifeguards (registered charity 1174631) provides a Beach Safety Service in partnership with Ryde and Sandown Town Councils during May, July and August each year.
With several long-serving lifeguards moving on, the team is now recruiting for new members to take on the vital role of keeping beachgoers safe.
Todd Miller, Beach Manager, has said:
“With a few of our long serving Beach Lifeguards flocking the nest, we’re looking for some new recruits to join our team this year! Working as a Beach Lifeguard is an extremely rewarding and important role, that comes with a lot of responsibility, as well as being enjoyable!
“You also gain nationally recognised qualifications and training, as well as the experience of working alongside our amazing emergency services.”
Applicants must be at least 16 years old, confident swimming in the sea, and able to complete a 400m swim in under 7 minutes 30 seconds. They must also be available to work on selected dates in May, July and August, and be mature, professional, proactive, hard-working and physically fit.
Training and qualifications will be provided to successful candidates in April 2026.
