An experienced and well-known Isle of Wight police officer will face a misconduct hearing next week after allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a vulnerable person more than 20 years ago.
PC Jason Taylor – who most recently was an Acting Sergeant – is accused of gross misconduct in relation to an incident in October 2004, in which – whilst on duty as a Police Officer – he allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with a vulnerable member of the public whose emotional state was such that she could not freely consent to such activity.
It is further alleged that PC Taylor abused his position to establish contact with a member of the public for the purposes of seeking a personal relationship with her, and again abused his position to establish/maintain contact with another member of the public for the purposes of seeking a personal and/or sexual relationship with her.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that this alleged behaviour fell below the standards of police officers and such conduct amounts to the breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Honesty & Integrity, Authority, Respect and Courtesy, Discreditable contact, and Confidentiality.
It is assessed that these matters individually and collectively amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, is so serious that this officer’s dismissal would be justified.
The misconduct hearing will be held at Holiday Inn, Eastleigh on Monday (11th November) and is expected to last 5 days.

Sorry 20 years ago should be dropped. I know some will not agree but times change. Views change. Times were different. It may not be right but at time if wouldn’t of been charged then then shouldn’t now. Because now things are done differently rightly so I personally think you shouldn’t be done for today standards in past. I didn’t agree with the way Jimmy Saville situation arose he was dead for a start it was well known in the 60’s 70’s. Time changes and views changes. Hope there is not action taken. If been recent then yes throw the book not 20 years ago

By looking at his picture here, I always thought that the police had standards which included being clean shaved unless he was given permission to grow a full beard? Areal scruffy erk and as for his cap, has he been doing an Irish jig on it. Anyone looking like that should be chucked out of the police.
