Island Line services have been suspended this morning (Friday) due to a ‘problem’ that is being investigated.
No trains are operating between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin at this time.
Today’s suspension of service is the latest in an ongoing saga of delays and cancellations on the network, with the 2 remaining trains on their last legs. However, brand new trains are due to arrive over the next 6 months, with the line closed for a 3 month period in early 2021 for major upgrade works.
Disruption is expected until 09:30.
UPDATE @ 07:50 – The problem has been resolved quicker than engineers expected, with Island Line services now back up and running.

Running again, this is good news. Well done to the engineers and all involved who are managing to keep these old trains running.
I hope to old underground trains move to Isle of Wight steam Railway Museum because it is good memories historian and inside show different old trains at big shed?, Wait and see!
As static exhibits, you mean? I did hear the Epping – Ongar Railway had expressed an interest in obtaining one of them. That would be ironic, returning to an ex-tube line. It would have to be hauled around though, as their line’s no longer electrified.
Could not run tho as the steam railway isn’t electrified and I don’t they will
Resolved quickly due to the driver turning up perhaps

No point in new trains if you do not have the staff
Tar mac, and a battery shuttle bus. One driver per bus, no dangerous electric. Cheap to maintain single tar mac private rd. Sorted.
