Almost 2-and-a-half years after falling into administration, Island Harbour has new owners – and they are names you might be familiar with.
It was in September 2022 that Uavend Investments LLP – headed up by Eamon Mark O’Connor and Kevin George Webb – went into administration, putting the future of the River Medina marina in doubt. Within days it was said that there was ‘significant interest’ from potential buyers, but nothing has come of that statement – until now.
It has been confirmed that Moses Oyediwura and Jamie Emiabata, the owners of the currently closed The Breeze restaurant at Island Harbour, have now purchased the marina itself under the company Island Harbour Marina (IOW) Limited.
The Breeze closed its doors in order for its owners to evaluate the venue’s long-term viability in November 2022. The temporary closure came just months after a shocking food hygiene rating.
It’s unclear when, or if, The Breeze will open and what exactly the future holds for the marina. But it appears the legendary Spice Girls bus, used in the film Spice World, may be part of the wider deal.
Island Echo has been told by sources that the current staff have been informed that their jobs are ‘not safe’ as a new workforce will allegedly be brought in, although nothing is confirmed. Rumours of a purchase first hit Island Echo in December.
Mr Oyediwura has business ties with Norris Castle in East Cowes. He is listed as the director of Norris Castle Estate (Group) Ltd (among other companies) having been appointed on 8th June 2020 – the same day that Eamon O’Connor resigned from the company.
So the staff after years of loyal employment for both the old company (new company) and the administration have been told your jobs aren’t safe DISGUSTING
The only jobs safe with this Labour government at the helm
are Public Sector jobs, all private sector jobs are at risk!
Public sector jobs are cushy, also they never sack any
employees, even though many of them are useless!
After contacting the marina this morning STAFF were NEVER told there’s jobs we unsafe.
So thank you island echo for letting them no, as I’ve informed them.
Why would anyone working for a company in administration assume their job was safe?
But I’m sure they are grateful some random person calls the marina to inform them that the Island Echo confirms the fact their jobs are unsafe.
Perhaps too the internet hasn’t reached Binfield yet so the staff there have no access to any Island news sites.
Ye this will end up crap ..just you see..not to be trusted..
Yes, just like nothing has happened with Norris Castle
