Administrators are already looking to sell Island Harbour Marina just days after the controlling company of the popular commercial marina went into administration.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the appointment of Stephen Lancaster of Lucas Ross as administrator was confirmed on Thursday in the London Gazette, after Uavend Investments LLP – headed up by Eamon Mark O’Connor and Kevin George Webb – went into administration on 13th September.
Boats moored in the popular marina were left stranded with the lock doors shut after staff were allegedly let go with immediate effect. However, between now and Tuesday the lock will be available for approximately 4 hours a day around free flow to allow people to remove their boats.
It has now been confirmed by those looking after proceedings that they are looking to sell the site as quickly as possible and have already received interest from multiple parties.
The Breeze restaurant – which recently closed its kitchen after a visit from environmental health inspectors – has not been affected by the administration and continues to operate as normal.
A spokesperson from Lucas Ross has told Island Echo:
“We can confirm that Uavend Investments LLP, the owner and operator of the Island Harbour Marina has gone into Administration and the matter is being dealt with by Lucas Ross Ltd with Stephen Lancaster acting as Administrator.
“Having just been appointed we are currently gathering information in order to fully assess all matters pertaining to the Marina area. We have been made aware that there are certain matters that may need specialist third-party input, which will take some time to assess.
“We will be working as quickly as we can to find a resolution to the situation for all affected stakeholders and minimise any disruption and will have further updates at the appropriate times.
“It is our intention to seek to sell the marina to new owners and we have already had significant interest, but anyone wishing to register their interest should contact us via [email protected]“.

So we can expect to see the new version of the same lot appear down there can we? More house building without planning permission, that will eventually be passed on condition.
More suspect types with very loud exhausts advertising their coming and going? Amazing to think that the original…First..planning application contained a clause to deal with surrounding area impact and a proper junction with the Fairlee Road. How many years ago was that…25? Longer?
Seems people in high places have different agendas to ordinary people.
Perhaps the rumours that the owner of Bembridge harbour may make a bid for such may be true then.
He has done wonders with Bembridge and clearly has a lot of experience in managing such areas to a high standard.
Perhaps a clause could be written into the sell that any new buyer has to find funds to provide a fixed link bridge by placing a toll on all vessels over the next decade to then fund the floating bridge at Cowes as it is doubtful it will last much longer than ten years.
It doesn’t look like it’ll last much longer than 10 minutes!
