At around 03:15, both Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to reports that a man had fallen in the vicinity of Culver Down.
A short search was carried out which resulted in the casualty being swiftly located on the path running from Culver to Whitecliff Bay.
Coastguard Rescue 175 Helicopter from Lee-on-Solent was soon called in to evacuate the patient directly to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
The man was stretchered to the awaiting red and white helicopter, which landed at Sandhills Holiday Park shortly after 04:00. As the sun began to rise at the start of a new day the helicopter lifted off en-route to the hospital helipad in Newport.
