Hovertravel has been awarded the Green Marine Europe certification for the third consecutive year, recognising its ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact across air, land, and water.
Green Marine Europe, the independent European branch of Green Marine International, evaluates operators across 11 environmental indicators, including emissions, fuel efficiency, and waste management, requiring demonstrable year-on-year improvements.
This year, Hovertravel introduced detailed tracking of nitrous oxide emissions across its fleet, laying the groundwork for future reductions.
Brendan Beattie, Master / Marine Safety and Environmental Officer at Hovertravel, has said:
“Being the only cross-Solent ferry to achieve this certification is a proud moment for our team. It reflects our commitment to sustainable operations and pushes us to continue innovating to reduce our environmental footprint.”
Hovertravel’s achievement highlights its role as a pioneer in sustainable hovercraft operations, proving that environmental responsibility and reliable passenger transport can go hand in hand.

No one wants dirty polluting ferry operations and I don’t question the sincerity of the team. But how could the retention of this award ever have been in any doubt? With fewer timetabled services and more cancellations than ever for weather and technical reasons the only other question worth asking is if the company will still be around to receive the award next year?
so -I guess you don’t want lorries either, or the dirty polluting industries that create EVs
if you thought it through, you would have not made that post wharf road man and avoided looking daft
