Firefighters from Newport, Freshwater and Yarmouth have tackled a house fire in Brighstone overnight.
3 appliances and a Aerial Ladder Platform were mobilised to Moortown Lane at 01:19 this morning (Thursday) following a 999 call reporting a fire at a 2-storey residential address.
4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel and positive pressure ventilation were used to bring the incident under control, with the stop message coming in around 45 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire had developed in the roof space of the detached home. The cause is unknown at this time.
The homeowners of the affected property have been supported by volunteers from the British Red Cross’ Emergency and Fire Support Unit.
Meanwhile, fire crews were looked after on the ground by neighbours with a constant supply of tea and sweets. 4-year-old Martha, 2-year-old Holly and mum Anna put in a sterling effort.
