There are currently delays of up to 60 minutes on Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service this afternoon (Friday).
Earlier today, a total of 2 crossings were cancelled due to an issue with Red Falcon’s aft main engine exhaust bellows.
As a result of this, delays of 30-40 minutes were enforced throughout the rest of the morning and earlier this afternoon as staff worked to catch up. Now however it has been confirmed that a medical emergency has forced an increase to delays of 1 hour.
The cross-Solent operator has said that they are currently experiencing very high passenger volumes on what is the final weekend of the summer holidays.
A Red Funnel spokesperson has said:
“Our teams are working hard to reduce these delays and we apologise for any disruption to your journey”.

Aft exhaist bellows fault, well thats different to staff staying in bed so they cannot sail.
Not entirely, after a particularly spicy vindaloo i am very much subject to an aft exhaust bellows fault.
Makes me laugh how they get away with charging you extra for exact timed sailings but when there at fault you the customer don’t get compensated just a pathetic apology over the tanoy system. Absolute rip off joke of a company who get away with it all the time ripping people off while they make millions in profits.
But they also don’t charge if u turn up late, or as we done Thursday turned up 2 hours early and they got us on, it’s called swings & roundabouts,
