An Isle of Wight care company has had its visa sponsorship licence revoked by the Home Office.
Pacific Care Services, based in Sandown, has been bringing over foreign nationals to work in the local care sector under what is known as an immigration sponsorship licence.
However, alleged breaches of the terms of the licence by the employer have led to the Government taking the decision to revoke Pacific Care’s ability to recruit overseas workers.
It is thought over 100 individuals from Zimbabwe and other African countries have been given employment on the Isle of Wight.
Island Echo is told that affected employees have been given letters explaining what happens next.
A Home Office spokesperson has told Island Echo:
“We are committed to minimising abuse of the visa and immigration system by unscrupulous employers and upholding the integrity of our visa and immigration system.
“That’s why we have already set out first steps to ban rogue employers from sponsoring overseas workers and will deliver legislation for the Fair Work Agency to ensure strong and fair employment rights for all.
“Businesses found guilty of breaching employment law will have their sponsorship licenses refused or revoked, and care workers affected by this will be supported to find alternative employment.”
Pacific Care has refused to comment on the matter, as they say it is now with their legal team and the courts.
Well done, these people prob don’t have the proper qualifications, or training or compassion to look after vulnerable/ old people?
Have you not seen the local Numpty’s, full of Tatts and
smoking and vaping.
The cheap untrained labour you mention can’t be no worse.
You are obviously a sad Reformer.
Get over it.
The Island must be short of staff, hence needing
to recruit workers from overseas.
For a company that has been operating for 10 years, their website notably lacks basic mandatory information such as the full company name and number, VAT registration, supervisory authority, professional indemnity details, privacy/GDPR details, and modern slavery statements. Why did the Home Office approve their visa sponsorship rights in the first place? Why weren’t even basic checks made on this company? Will anyone at the Home Office be made accountable?
A correct decision from the Home Office for a change. Cheap untrained labour from these Nations never works. In fact it puts the patients lives at risk.

What a shame you have to use copy and paste comments. You are obviously a sad Liebour supporter. It would even appear that English is not your first language.
Immigration enforcement. Shame they’re incapable of enforcing it.
Shut them down altogether, that’s the last thing we need.

Oh shut up ffs.
I haven’t seen any small boats in this part of the channel
I’m late to the party, yes I know but….
BREXIT sent back all the European workers. Under your very noses the Gov’t then did a deal with other nations not in EU for fast-track visa workers to come here legally to do the work we’d be short of employees on. It’s not rocket science to work out that a large number of unethical employers would suddenly set themselves up as agencies for care companies. Those employees would be in danger of modern-day slavery having already paid thousands to register with said agencies. They fleece the employees, the government contracts AND those in need of care. What did you expect if you swallow hook line and sinker the spoutings of people like Farage? It’s not small boats or even immigrants themselves you need to address, it’s the CAUSES.
The reason we need Nigel Farage is because of brainwashed, brain dead people like you. Hope you’re enjoying the worst government this country has ever seen
Brainwashed by what, evidence and facts? Worst in what way, and how long are we counting? First elected government was 1802….how’s your historical analysis? And trust me, NOBODY needs Farage; he couldn’t even sew up the party he created without being rumbled for lack of democracy. Not too bright, is Nige.
Have personal experience of foreign staffed care company, utterly shameful lack of knowledge, should not be allowed any where near the elderly and vulnerable.
Sponsored and supplied with everything including cars and accommodation.
If that is in place for foreign nationals, why the bloody hell can’t we do that for our own people to come in to care work? There are some lovely young folk trying to make a career out of care and being given little if any incentive.
Deport, and close down the company’s.
As if there’s not enough immigrant foreigners in the country and now on the island. Here’s an idea, instead of importing more here, make the scum work that nobody seems to want to get rid of that jump across in their little black boats. Only a matter of time before the ghetto’s, gang culture and knife crime hits our streets and affects out youngsters… pacific care, no doubt their pockets are well lined, no consideration for this once great country or safe community…
