The company operating the helicopter which tragically crashed on the Isle of Wight yesterday, killing 3 people on board and seriously injuring another, has tonight (Tuesday) issued a heartfelt statement.
It has been revealed that 2 men and 1 women sadly lost their lives in the incident; 52-year-old Justyna Czoska, 49-year-old Wojciech Kowalkowski and 54-year-old helicopter pilot Simon Hewitt.
A man in his 30s remains in Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries, but he is said to be in a stable condition.
Now, as everyone starts to come to terms with the tragic events of the Bank Holiday weekend, Northumbria Helicopters has issued a statement saying:
”At this very sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of all those involved in a crash yesterday morning on the Isle of Wight. Two passengers have tragically lost their lives on board the helicopter, and we hope for the best recovery possible for the third passenger being treated at University Hospital Southampton.
“Tragically also lost on board was our devoted pilot, Captain Simon Hewitt, who was not only an immensely respected member of our team, but also a truly wonderful family man, a much-loved friend and a highly regarded colleague. Simon will be truly missed.
“We would also like to thank the emergency services for their quick response as well as our team on the ground and members of the public who were able to offer their assistance.
“Our heartfelt condolences remain with everyone affected by this tragedy and we continue to cooperate with the on-going AAIB Investigation”.
Earlier this evening tributes were paid to Captain Simon Hewitt, from Barton-Upon-Humber.
Tributes have also been paid to Justyna Czoska and Wojciech Kowalkowski from Oxfordshire.
