A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight, with up to 20mm of rainfall possible from 16:00.
IW Met Service says that bands of showers will merge at times to give more organised spells of rainfall, some of which will be extremely heavy.
Most places will see rainfall amounts between 3mm and 8mm, however, localised downpours could see up to 20mm of rain falling in a short space of time in some parts.
The warning is in force from 16:00 this afternoon until midnight tonight.
Islanders are advised that localised flash flooding is the main hazard, especially this evening. Debris such as sand, soil and shingle may affect some rural roads due to field run-off, along with generally large amounts of surface water making driving conditions rather hazardous at times.
There is also the risk of overflowing storm drains on some of the Island’s beaches.
