Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision in Yarmouth this evening (Sunday) following reports of a crash.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are on scene at Hallets Shute having been called at around 20:20.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised appliances from Newport, Freshwater, and Yarmouth fire stations to the scene alongside a fire duty officer.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has dispatched a number of resources to the main road linking Freshwater to Yarmouth.
The collision between a grey Skoda Fabia and a white Honda has occurred close to the exit of West Bay Club resulting in the road being completely blocked.
Police are on scene and have closed the road between Pixley Hill/Corf Road and River Road in Yarmouth (roundabout). Motorists are to divert locally.
Southern Vectis are diverting their route 7 buses from Yarmouth back to Wilmingham Lane, Middle Road & Afton Road to Freshwater.
The diversion operates in both directions until further notice. Bus stops from Norton Grange to Hooke Hill Bottom will not be served.

UPDATE @ 21:30 – Firefighters are stowing away their tools and equipment and fire appliances are starting to vacate the scene.
It is understood at least 1 person has been extricated from a vehicle by crews using specialist cutting equipment – with the roof of the Skoda being removed to allow for better casualty access. The injured party has been passed to the care of paramedics.
The clear-up operation will now commence and recovery is expected in due course.
