Island Roads will be gritting the Isle of Wight’s road network tonight (Tuesday).
All P1 and P2 routes will be treated as a precautionary measure alongside bridge decks at Foxes Road and Stag Lane in Newport.
The fleet of gritters will be hitting the road shortly.
Local forecasters IW Met Service say that there is a risk of hail in the South Wight during the first part of tonight, but as this moves north across the Island it could turn to sleet or wet snow over the highest hills. At lower elevations hail and a little bit of sleet is possible with the potential for a few icy patches in sheltered rural locations.
Temperature 2c to 4c but as high as 7’c on windward coasts. Wind NE 14-21mph becoming E 7-12mph then S 8-13mph later.
