Islanders are being told to expect stronger winds than initially anticipated tomorrow (Wednesday) as blustery conditions look set to grace the Island.
As previously reported by Island Echo, local weather forecaster IW Met Service issued 2 weather warnings – 1 for today and 1 for tomorrow – as gale force winds headed towards the Island.
However it has now been confirmed the warning in place for today has been dropped, but the warning of heavy winds on Wednesday has been increased with gales as strong as 75mph possible in a few exposed locations – the previous warning had advised of winds up to 55mph.
Due to the strength of the gales, those in coastal locations on the Island should be aware of large waves overtopping sea defenses, whilst motorists should watch out for any debris that may find its way onto the road.
The warning is in force from 11:00 – 23:00 on Wednesday 12 April.

Well I guess I won’t be going to the woods tomorrow.
The woods will be coming to you I expect.
Ewww, all that sewage being washed ashore.
No, they will not be coming as too rough for small boats. Every cloud…saves us a few million until fine weather returns.
From your posts being put on IE you clearly have issues, and you are looking to change every story to push your issues which are irrelevant to the actual news item you write a comment on.
Pretty sad and unfortunate, as the issues you raise on Island Echo are concerns for the UK as a whole and the Island however your attitude does you little credit. Ultimately your comments will change nothing and serve no point in solving local and national issues.
Maybe the gales will blow the stench of diarrhea out to sea?
We already have enough sewage on the Island, a bit more won’t
make any difference
With a bit of luck the 75mph gales will blow away
the yellow Vauxhall Corsa HJ62 ZPV that constantly
parks on the pavement outside the the old council houses along
Great Preston Road
Thank the Lord
IW Council and Island Roads don’t care for pedestrian safety on the Island
Maybe Island Roads will tell their employees that
their in-laws should not park on pavements outside
the old council houses along Great Preston Road.
Maybe Island Roads like to encourage families to
Block pavements to pedestrians.
Pavements are for people
Roads are for vehicles
Something IW Council and Island Roads do not understand.
2 thick organisations
With all that wind, shares in Baked Beans will go down.
It’s been there for months
How can Authorities let a family park on a pavement for months
DOES NO ONE CONTROL THE ISLAND HIGHWAYS
What happened to Health and Safety
Obviously Health and Safety does not exist on Dinosaur Isle
They never stated this on the recent TV show that the Island is run by idiots !
Bugger, shall not be able to cut the grass tomorrow then !
Best not wair a hat tomorrow then
Or a wig !
All the baldies will be ok
So I won’t be Kite flying then.
