Oakfield football club, based at Slade Road in Ryde, is the latest Island football team to report an act of vandalism to their property.
The damage first came to the attention of the club yesterday (Monday). The doors of a portacabin belonging to the club were badly damaged in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
This year, attacks on IW football clubs have been reported at Wroxall, Shanklin and the Football Development Centre at Rookley.
A spokesperson for the club said via Facebook:
“Well done to the scum bags who did this damage at the club yesterday. We find it difficult financially to run the club. Hope you are happy and got your desired satisfaction out of this.”
Anyone with information about the criminal damage and apparent forced entry to Oakfield FC should report the matter to the Hampshire Constabulary on 101.

I am sorry but if this carries on there will be vigilante groups dealing with these little bastards themselves and that is just not the island.
Anyone wise would do so, yet SAY nothing on social media, to avoid any repercussions. Fully understand your anger, but be careful what you say and do.
Yes you are totally right. This is what it needs now as slowly but surely society is breaking down.
There is so much drug running going on unchecked on the island recently, many have reported it repeatedly to the Police, but nothing is ever done. Youths on motorbikes continually ride round making deliveries, if challenged they become violent – and this is the Isle of Wight . . . We moved here over 25 years ago, with our young children, to get away from such influences.
I think a vigilante force is our only hope now.
– Fed up with being ignored..
Await the coming influx of the ‘sort’ known for such who use knives and guns and treat women like filth. They will be here enmasse soon. Word up.
HAD TO LOCAL IDIOTS QQQQQQQQQ1 WHY DIDN’T ANYONE HEAR THEM? WAS TIME OF DAY ? OR NIGHT
It’s mindless vandalism. I have several friends involved with youth football and these lockups contain nothing of value, usually just cones, nets, some footballs, coloured training bibs etc. I’m not sure what these idiots are hoping to find and it certainly doesn’t seem worth the effort of going along with a crowbar or similar. But I guess that’s just the problem, these people simply don’t have a brain.
Lets hope the football team get hold of them before the soft sentencing law does.
Hi vandals! You want to get in the Portakabin?
Here, I’ll unlock it for you. Now you can get in. Are you in? Make yourselves comfy – I’ll just lock it up again. I may come back in a week and let you out. Bye!
