Freshwater Bay Golf Club has been raising funds over the last 2 years for Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight-based charity provides training and competition opportunities for Island athletes with learning disabilities.
At their alternative New Year party last Saturday, Club Captain Peter Bonnell and Past Captain Richard Frost presented a cheque for £7,115 to the charity.
Charity organiser Claire Slade-Carter gave a very moving speech explaining the profound difference that this amount will make to the charity.
The funds were raised thanks to the generosity of Freshwater Bay GC members through various special events such as the Charity Day in August and 100 holes of golf all played in a day by club stalwart and Iron-man, Steve Orchard.
