The Isle of Wight Council say they expect the Cowes Floating Bridge to return to service from 05:00 on Wednesday morning.
A new prow cable will be fitted overnight tomorrow (Tuesday), allowing the service to resume as normal the following day.
The troubled chain ferry was pulled from service last Wednesday and the following day it was confirmed that Floating Bridge No. 6 would remain out of action until at least today.
Until services are resumed, a foot passenger only service will be in place between 05:00 and 23:00 today and tomorrow.
