Isle of Wight rock band Five Degrees North have announced a show for the end of the month where they will bid farewell to the Island before leaving for university in Brighton.
Taking place at Newport’s Strings Bar and Venue on Wednesday 27th August, Beyond the Beginning will see the trio perform a headline show, playing songs from their back catalogue.
On the night, they will be supported by rock group Anatomy and Isle of Wight rapper Fugo Kid, the latter of whom recently released his debut EP.
The show, which is being billed as Five Degrees North’s farewell to the Island, will be the band’s last performance before leaving for Brighton.
Will Morrison, Mike Fuller and Louis ‘Linguini’ Marshall will be attending WaterBear College of Music, where they will all be studying for a degree in music performance.
Speaking about the farewell gig and leaving for Brighton, Five Degrees North said:
“These last few years have been absolutely crazy for us and better than we could have ever dreamed of.
“Being able to play in front of our hometown and have everyone dancing and singing along has been incredible.
“Fear not as we will be carrying on as normal, just in a new location. Stay tuned for everything we have in store for the future!”
Influenced by groups including The Amazons and Royal Blood, Five Degrees North are one of the Isle of Wight bands quickly rising in popularity.
After winning the Wight Noize competition and performing on the Isle of Wight Festival main stage, the band were featured on a special episode of BBC Introducing South, where they were interviewed live on the radio by presenter Steph Nieuwenhuys.
They have also supported other groups in Southampton.
