Firefighters have extinguished a kitchen fire at a property in Whippingham this morning (Monday).
2 appliances from East Cowes and Newport were mobilised to Campfield Road at 05:43 following a 999 call to control.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire within the kitchen of the residential bungalow property. Island Echo understands the fire was located within the oven.
With breathing apparatus donned, 2 firefighters were committed into the building with a hose reel jet to resolve the situation. Positive pressure ventilation was then used to clear lingering smoke.
First aid was given to a woman who was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
