Mayfair Equity Partners, the buyout firm behind the Yo Sushi chain of restaurants, are reported to be in advanced talks over the takeover of Wightlink ferries.
According to Sky News, Mayfair Equity Partners is one of a small number of bidders currently in talks with Wightlink’s owners, Basalt Infrastructure Partners.
As previously reported by Island Echo the cross-Solent ferry operator could be sold for a figure in the region of £300million.
Although discussions are well advanced, there is said to be no guarantee that a deal will be struck. A sale of Wightlink could be agreed in just a matter of weeks, however, Sky News’ city sources expect the sale to be completed in early 2019.
Arcus Infrastructure Partners is another one of the interested parties in talks about a Wightlink buyout.
