Firefighters have returned to the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown, just hours after a devastating blaze ripped through the building.
2 appliances from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance on Sandown Esplanade after being summoned at around 17:40.
It’s understood that a 999 call was made to the emergency services after a passerby heard a fire alarm, prompting fears that a fire had restarted at the building.
Firefighters from Ryde and Shanklin are rechecking the building for any signs of fire or hotspots following last night’s incident – which has since seen an arson investigation launched by police.
UPDATED @ 18:41 – After conducting a thorough search of the building, fire crews have found no sign of fire or ignition.
Firefighters have now once again secured the site and stood down, bringing the incident to a close.
