UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is responding to reports of a chimney fire at a property in Calbourne this lunchtime (Friday).
1 appliance from Newport has been mobilised to the Five Houses area off Elm Lane.
The alert came in shortly before 12:50.
UPDATE @ 14:15 – Crews remain on scene as they deal with the small fire, which is contained to the chimney stack.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – Firefighters from Newport White Watch have now returned to station having utilised a 10.5m ladder, roof ladder and a rope safety pack to tackle the chimney fire from above using a hose reel.
