The local community turned out to pay their respects to former Isle of Wight firefighter Trevor Moyce this afternoon (Friday).
Trevor, 55, lost his 2-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease earlier this month. He was diagnosed with the condition just months after retiring from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service following a successful career spanning 30 years.
A horse and carriage set off from Newport Fire Station, where Trevor served as a Station Manager, before heading up South Street and around the town to St Thomas’ Square. A service was held at Newport Minster at 14:00 led by Rev Canon Kevin Arkell.
Potted plants were donated outside the church, as requested by the family. The aim is to use these donations to create a memorial garden.
Trevor leaves behind his wife Louise and children Holly, Daisy, Phoebe and Tobias. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Isla and Jacob/
