Young Wightlink CRT rider Finley Manser-Grundy has capped off a remarkable season with victory in the final round of the Little Fodder Downhill Mountain Bike Series, held at the Forest of Dean on Saturday (25th October).
Racing on a newly designed course, Finley adapted quickly to the unfamiliar terrain. The track featured a fast-flowing top section with sweeping berms, which then transitioned across a fire road into a more technical stretch of singletrack filled with roots and flat corners. The layout suited Finley’s riding style, echoing the conditions of his local trails in Brighstone on the Isle of Wight.
Finley took an early lead in the Under-8s category, clocking a time that put him 8 seconds ahead of his nearest rival after the first run. He went on to improve in the second run, sealing the race win and securing the overall series title, having won all 3 rounds.
In addition to clinching the top spot in his category, Finley also posted the second fastest time of the day across all age groups – a standout performance for the young rider.
Finley’s achievements this season have been supported by team sponsors including Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries, Island Renewables Ltd, Wight Mountain, Rapanui and KReative Studios.
