Work to connect the new pedestrian walkway on Ryde Pier to the Island Line train station is now underway, with the new access route set to open in early December. Final works to connect the walkway to the new transport hub on Ryde Esplanade began last Friday and will continue until Monday 11th December. Once complete, pedestrians will enter through Ryde Esplanade station and onto a new concourse which will bear around to the left and straight onto the walkway, which continues to the wet end of the pier. Those heading up and down the pier on foot are having to revert back to using the vehicle lane for the time being until the walkway fully re-opens. Wightlink’s FastCat service from Ryde Pier Head – Portsmouth Harbour continues as usual with no changes to the timetable during the works.
