Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to a field fire in Shorwell just after midday today (Sunday).
Fire crews from Newport and Freshwater were called to a field fire in the Kingston area of Shorwell, which is said to have spread across 200 meters of grass land.
The alarm was raised at around 12:15 when black smoke could be seen to billow into the air for miles around.
The fire was tackled promptly, despite the hot conditions making the task that little bit more difficult.
Crews were swiftly remobilised to St Helens, where a solar farm fire broke out.
