The village of Seaview will celebrate Christmas at its annual ‘Late-Night Shopping’ event this Friday (12th December) from 17:00 to 20:00.
This year brings an exciting new addition: a dedicated festive pop-up shop inside the currently vacant This and That premises on Seaview High Street, which will be transformed for one night only into a vibrant seasonal market.
The pop-up will showcase a curated collection of local makers and independent brands, with confirmed stallholders including Moon and Stars Jewellery, Tropic Natural Skincare, Sally Potter Designs, and more.
Alongside the pop-up, all Seaview’s shops, cafés and restaurants will open late to offer festive promotions, Christmas gifts, special menus and seasonal refreshments.
Carol singers will perform at 18:00, and the much-loved snow machine will return for 2025, adding a magical flurry of “snowfall” to the Seaview High Street.
The event is organised by the Seaview Business Association, which aims to champion small businesses, boost off-season trade, and encourage residents and visitors alike to shop locally.
Harriet Jelf, Seaview Business Association says:
“With all the issues facing small businesses across the country, Seaview possibly more than any other large village on the Island faces extreme seasonality as well – but we all work so hard to keep our doors open throughout the winter months, and we’ve been building a great all-year-round buzz on the High Street!
“Our Late-Night Christmas Shopping event is a chance for the whole community to come together, support local shops and businesses, and enjoy a festive evening for everyone to enjoy.”
Lily’s Coffee Shop will bring street-food to the High Street with freshly stone-baked pizzas served outside, alongside a festive hot chocolate station, mulled wine, homemade treats and 10% off all purchases.
Serendipity Hair & Beauty will host its annual Christmas raffle in aid of Mountbatten Hospice, with tickets available until the 20:00 draw, and will also offer a selection of seasonal gift bags, hair products and festive hot chocolates and lattes.
Seaview Beach Shop will welcome “Santa’s Daughter”, who will run a £2 Secret Santa with all proceeds going to Mountbatten, while The Halland Art + Wine will offer discounts on selected Christmas wines and host Leighton from All Well and Good, selling his limited-edition Yuletide candles.
At Seaview Art Gallery, shoppers can enjoy pink fizz and chocolates while browsing discounted jewellery, selected artworks, gifts, glass and collectables.
Lucy Whelan Vintage will unveil a half-price rail and new vintage jewellery – with 10% of proceeds supporting Cancer Research – alongside 20% off everything in store.
The Old Fort will offer a complimentary starter or pudding with any main – just remember to mention ‘Late-Night Shopping’, accompanied by a visit from Father Christmas.
Meanwhile, the Seaview Village Community Shop will offer tastings of a limited-edition Christmas gin from the Isle of Wight Gin Company, as well as delicious mince pies from their Polish bakery supplier.
