UPDATED: A tree has come down in high winds on Middle Road between Newport and Calbourne this lunchtime (Saturday).
The incident has occurred between Betty Haunt Lane and Elm Lane and has resulted in the closure of the road.
Island Roads contractors are on scene and are working to clear the obstruction.
Southern Vectis say their Route 7 bus via Calbourne will divert via Gunville and Forest Road to Elm Lane, then through to Calbourne.
UPDATE @ 14:23 – The carriageway has now been cleared.
Southern Vectis buses are reverting to a normal route.
