EXPECTED RISE IN THE NUMBER OF JSA CLAIMANTS


jobcentresignThe number of unemployed Islanders increased by 46 in September compared to August, an expected rise with the end of the Summer season.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (Wednesday) reveal a total of 1,218 people were claiming the unemployment benefit Jobseekers Allowance on the Isle of Wight during September 2015, a fall of 254 year-on-year.

1.5% of the Island’s working age population (16-64) are claiming JSA, 0.1% less than the rest of the UK (1.6%).
